Stormwater Management

Marina Park Stormwater Project

Federalsburg, Maryland

The Town of Federalsburg contracted RAUCH inc for design services and construction management for improvements to the Federalsburg Marina Park. Marina Park is located along the Marshyhope River, a waterway that is state and federally designated as a critical habitat waterway. The park features a small marina area, a public boat ramp, a splash pad, a sand volleyball court, a playground, basketball courts, and picnic pavilions.

Our scope of work included design of stormwater management features, innovative green approaches such as wood chip bioreactors, and swales to restore and stabilize flow channel banks.

Our firm also provided planning, engineering, and site design for an educational area within the park to demonstrate environmental projects for the public. Demonstration projects include a pollinator and rain garden, a rain barrel collection system that collects run-off from the pavilions, and a permeable surface walking trail connecting the park to the Marshyhope waterfront and the neighboring Riverwalk Park.

We provided grant writing services to the Town and successfully obtained Program Open Space funding and Waterway Improvement Funds from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources to support construction.
