Coastal Resilience
Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum
St. Michaels, Maryland
RAUCH inc. was contracted by the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum to complete a Zoning Review and Site Design Report in support of their Phase III Master Plan. Our report evaluated sea level rise, flood mitigation, and stormwater management needs for the museum’s campus and the Crab Claw restaurant as well as regulatory requirements associated with critical areas law such as Environmental Site Design and nutrient load reductions.
Recommendations in our report included projects to increase pervious surface and improve bulkheads as well as nature-based solutions such as wetlands and buffer management strategies. Recommendations were based on evaluation of current and future conditions and included living shoreline expansions that incorporate oyster reefs for enhanced resilience.
