Coastal Resilience
Bioretention and Tide Gates
Town of Oxford
RAUCH, inc. was retained by the Town to develop four bioretention areas in and around the Town of Oxford’s Causeway Park, install a new tide gate structure, and repair a failing tide gate with a new flap gate.
The tide gate scope of work included development of concept plans and construction drawings. Design considerations included pedestrian safety, test pitting to avoid conflicts with existing utilities, and establishing the grades, control points, and stakeout for the structures. Our team also established detailed topography, processed data sets, prepared a base sheet, and developed a sediment control plan.
All work was coordinated with the Town of Oxford, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, and the Maryland Department of the Environment. The project was completed according to standards associated with state and federal funding partners including the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
