Bar Neck and Fairbank Septic Elimination

Talbot County, Maryland

Talbot County engaged RAUCH, inc. for a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) and Environmental Report (ER) to determine the feasibility of eliminating 146 septic system in the villages of Bar Neck and Fairbank (unincorporated areas near Tilghman Island).

Our PER and ER evaluated alternatives and made comprehensive recommendations to eliminate the septic systems by connecting them to the County’s Region V Wastewater System.

Our scope of work included examining how to collect and convey the wastewater from the communities to the County’s existing wastewater services. Existing facilities, site constraints, land use, and projected environmental impacts to the planned project area were all examined in relation to the construction and operations necessary to complete the project.

A present worth analysis and detailed cost estimate were included so the County could budget for the project and apply for state and federal funding. Our firm also quantified the value of Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) reductions so environmental benefits and economic values could be assigned to nutrient credits derived from nutrient pollution reductions achieved by the project.
