Holland Drive Water Main Loop

Federalsburg, Maryland

RAUCH inc. provided engineering design, permitting, bidding services, and construction management for the Town of Federalsburg’s Holland Drive Watermain Loop project. The project consisted of installation of approximately 900 feet of 6″ water main from Holland Drive to Hargreaves Drive, and approximately 420 feet of the 900 feet of 6″ water main to be installed by directional drilling.

Directional boring technology (horizontal directional drilling) was used to avoid open cut construction through a wooded area. Design documents included the proposed alignment and pipe size, right-of-way exhibits, construction specifications, and excavation restoration plans. The project also involved the connection of water services, installation of 9 wet tap connections, and specifications for abandoning the disconnection and old water main.

Funding was provided through the Maryland Department of the Environment’s Drinking Water Capital Project Grant Program. The project adhered to all local, state, and federal drinking water infrastructure regulations as well as funding requirements.
