Solar Energy for Wastewater Treatment

RAUCH inc. successfully assisted the Town of Federalsburg with securing project funding from the Maryland Department of Environment’s Energy and Water Infrastructure Program (EWIP) for a new solar system grid to power the town’s wastewater treatment plant.

Our firm served as the lead engineer and provided project management, bidding services, construction documentation, construction inspection, and construction management. Construction documents included single line electrical diagrams for the solar arrays to the transformer and to the grid, and the layout configuration for the panels. We calculated KW production figures, estimated cost savings, and estimated revenue from solar renewable energy credits (SRECs).

We also provided the AC electrical infrastructure design for all transformers, panels, and meters. In addition to meeting the Town’s utility needs for operating the WWTP, this completed project is providing the Town with revenue through net metering and the sale of SRECs.
